How to Prepare for a Demo Crew: Tips Before We Arrive
Booking a demo job with Junk Monkey? Great choice. Whether we’re tearing out flooring, knocking down a wall, or gutting a kitchen, proper prep helps the job go smoother, faster, and safer. Here are a few quick steps to take before your demo crew arrives.
1. Clear the Area
Remove all personal items, furniture, and valuables from the demo zone. If it’s a kitchen or bathroom, empty cabinets and remove anything hanging on walls.
2. Shut Off Utilities (If Needed)
For projects involving plumbing or electrical work, turn off water and power to the area being demoed — or coordinate with your contractor to do so safely.
3. Create a Safe Access Path
Our team will be moving debris in and out quickly. Make sure there’s a clear path from the work zone to the exit and that pets or kids are out of the way during demo.
4. Cover Adjacent Spaces
Dust can travel. We use containment barriers when needed, but covering furniture or electronics in nearby rooms is a good extra step — especially for larger jobs.
5. Know What’s Staying vs. Going
If certain features or fixtures should be protected (like a tile backsplash or lighting), mark them or let us know clearly before the job begins.
